They could have snapped his neck. But there are incredible traumas that are also being experienced in the hospital when you&#8217;re a Black woman, an Indigenous person, giving birth. The treatment is just totally different \u2014\u00a0how they feel they can manipulate and touch you, and what they can do to your body, is just very different.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Ali said that as soon as they were allowed, she, her son, and her husband, Vaughn Rasberry, checked out of the hospital.\u00a0&#8220;We left in the middle of the night,&#8221; she recalled. &#8220;As soon as we got the go\u00a0\u2014 I think it was like past midnight\u00a0\u2014\u00a0we ran away.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Ali and her husband welcomed a second child, their son Alejandro, in 2019.
