\n\tAs Monday\u2019s Met Gala approaches, the art of fashion is top of mind \u2014 and celebrity stylist Erin Walsh is breaking down her process.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Thursday night, the stylist hosted a cocktail party at The Fifth Avenue Hotel\u2019s Portrait Bar in celebration of her new book, \u201cThe Art of Intentional Dressing.\u201d Anne Hathaway<\/a>, who penned the book\u2019s introduction, served as a cohost for the evening. The actress, on the eve of the official theatrical release of \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2,\u201d<\/a> was dressed in a black crepe top and trousers by Stella McCartney for the occasion.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther guests included actresses Ariana DeBose and Beanie Feldstein \u2014 who are both styled by Walsh \u2014 as well as designers Stella McCartney, Prabal Gurung<\/a>, Fernando Garcia, Jennifer Fisher, Fletcher Kasell and Tanner Richie.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Art of Intentional Dressing\u201d has been 10 years in the making, as Walsh realized that many of the women she was dressing approached fashion with the same insecurities. \u201c\u200aI wanted to turn that around, because I knew the empowering possibilities of embracing fashion,\u201d said the stylist, who started writing the book in earnest during the pandemic. \u201c\u200aI wanted it to feel like a French pocketbook,\u201d she added. \u201cSomething you can literally take with you, and it\u2019s like your little successful, practical guide.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCopies of the compact book were displayed around the room at the Portrait Bar, inviting guests to page through as they sipped Bulleit espresso martinis. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn the lead-up to the book\u2019s release, Walsh has enjoyed seeing how people have put the book\u2019s advice into practice. \u201cPeople have been DMing me on Instagram their videos, and how their lives are changing because they\u2019re getting intentional about fashion,\u201d said Walsh, whose \u201cCREATE\u201d method outlined in the book is informed by identifying three guiding words. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was feeling joyful, optimistic and elegant,\u201d said Walsh, sharing the three words that guided her own fashion choice for the evening: a light pink feathered Oscar de la Renta dress.<\/p>\n

\n\tLike many in the room, Walsh is gearing up for a busy weekend of final preparation ahead of the Met Gala<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u200a\u201dWith this particular Met theme, it\u2019s so weirdly in alignment with my book in terms of the art of fashion and your body and symmetry and alignment,\u201d Walsh added. \u201cIt\u2019s funny how synchronicities line up that way.\u201d<\/p>\n
