She began by diving into some of her early promos, laughing at the ideas that her production team believed would bring in viewers. Moments included Raphael getting her hair cut on the show, talking about whether a woman could be vice president and more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Man, we were silly,&#8221; Raphael says of her early promos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;You know, I&#8217;ve forgotten uh what we were like back then. Kind of funny. and we would sort of do anything&#8230; it was early in the morning and it would make you laugh. Born Tamara Faye LaValley in International Falls, Minn., she had two children \u2014 Tammy Sue and Jay \u2014 with ex Jim, who she worked alongside as they prayed for sinners on the PTL (Praise the Lord) Network, one of the nation&#8217;s first and most successful television ministries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The network later crashed and burned when Jim was convicted in 1989 of defrauding supporters of his PTL ministry of more than $150 million, including a $265,000 payment to church secretary Hahn to keep quiet about their affair. Tammy divorced Jim while he was in prison and married construction magnate Roe Messner, who had helped build the ministry&#8217;s Christian theme park and resort Heritage USA in South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As she watched the clip, Raphael shared that the pair &#8220;were terribly nice to me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;I stayed at their house for a few days, came down for breakfast and sort of lived their family life. I really developed a friendship with Tammy Faye.
