NBC<\/a> host Sara Gore<\/a>, whose national \u201cOpen House<\/a>\u201d series gives lookie-loos a peek at chic homes, announced Thursday she has breast cancer and will be on leave for \u201ctreatment and surgery.\u201d (Watch the video below.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In tearful and candid remarks on her NBC 4 lifestyle show, \u201cNew York Live<\/a>,\u201d Gore confessed, \u201cIf I didn\u2019t say that I was a little bit scared, I\u2019d be lying.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Gore, 49, said she was still caught off-guard by the diagnosis even though she watched her mother and sister \u201cgo through this.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI always knew I was high risk,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I always assumed this day would come. But let me tell you, you are never ready… even when you catch it early.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

She went on to describe her diagnosis as \u201can emotional blow,\u201d before adding, \u201cIt is stinging right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Gore, who has three children with her husband, Matthew Miele, said she was receiving \u201cincredible\u201d care from doctors. \u201cI feel loved,\u201d she added while crying.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cMaybe there is a gift in this even if I don\u2019t fully understand what it is yet,\u201d she said, adding that it is a reminder of how \u201cprecious life is.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She told viewers, \u201cI\u2019m gonna come back better than ever, and I\u2019m gonna see you on the other side of this.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
