Her handling of the fire prevention and response has drawn criticism, especially because she was on a trip to Ghana when the destructive Santa Ana winds were whipping through the region.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Having additional candidates in the race also means some celebrities who call Los Angeles home have taken sides when it comes to making campaign donations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-nbc-section-heading\">Karen Bass<\/h2>\n<p>The former congresswoman has had rich, powerful supporters over the years. While individuals are capped to $1,800 for campaign donations, there are some of the famous names on the campaign contributors\u2019 list for Bass.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Edythe Broad: Philanthropist and founder of The Broad<\/li>\n<li>JJ Abrams: Film and television director, producer behind \u201cLost,\u201d \u201cAlias,\u201d \u201cFelicity,\u201d \u201cStar Wars: The Force Awakens,\u201d \u201cStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,\u201d Mission: Impossible III\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Samuel L. Conan Nolan reports for the NBC4 News at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-nbc-section-heading\">Spencer Pratt<\/h2>\n<p>The former cast member of the reality TV series \u201cThe Hills\u201d has been critical of Bass\u2019 and her office\u2019s handling of the Palisades Fire as his home was burned down.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>Since officially entering the race in February 2026, the Republican candidate has received contributions from the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Jeanie Buss: Former owner of the Los Angeles Lakers\u00a0  <\/li>\n<li>Katherine McPhee : Singer, actress<\/li>\n<li>Rick Salomon: Professional poker player linked to Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton, Shannen Doherty<\/li>\n<li>Jeff Jenkins: Reality TV show producer behind \u201cThe Simple Life,\u201d \u201cKeeping Up with the Kardashians,\u201d \u201cTotal Divas\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSpencer Pratt met with Access Hollywood&#8217;s Scott Evans at the site of his and wife Heidi&#8217;s former home in Pacific Palisades, where he talked about the devastating loss and how it&#8217;s inspired his ambitious future \u2013 running for mayor.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\"\/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-nbc-section-heading\">Shannen Doherty <\/h2>\n<p>The LA councilmember surprised many, including the incumbent, by making a last-minute bid for LA mayor, just hours before the filing deadline for the race.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite the short duration of her campaign, Raman, who is married to a Hollywood producer, also has some well-known names on her campaign contribution lists.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Jon Favreau: Former director of speechwriting for Pres.
