Charli XCX<\/a> has given fans a brief teaser of her upcoming studio album. Check it out below.<\/p>\n In the black-and-white clip filmed back in October, she\u2019s seen in a Paris studio with A.G. Cook<\/a> and Finn Keane \u2013 also her collaborators on 2024\u2019s \u2018Brat<\/a>\u2018, working on a new song called \u2018Rock Music\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cIt would be cool if we could have a song that was called \u2018Rock Music\u2019,\u201d she says, before workshopping potential sounds.\u00a0The video then shows an iPhone notes page where Charli is mapping out lyrics for the track. It reads: \u201cMe and my friends\/ We go out\/ We take pictures together\/ We sometimes cry\/ We kiss each other incestous vibes<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n In the caption, Charli writes: \u201ca video of me making a song called \u201crock music\u201d that is not actually rock music which is funny because i never said i was making a rock album. love you xx\u201d<\/p>\n It comes after her team confirmed that she was finishing work on her new album last month<\/a>, while Charli herself implied the next release would be going in a rock direction.\u00a0In an interview with\u00a0Vogue<\/em>, she declared: \u201cI think the dance floor is dead, so now we\u2019re making rock music\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n Elsewhere in the piece, she also revealed that she was determined not to make \u2018Brat 2.0\u2019. \u201cIf I\u2019d made another album that felt more dance-leaning, it would have felt really hard, really sad,\u201d she confessed. \u201cWhat\u2019s interesting for me is to bend the possibilities of what my perspective on that could be\u201d.<\/p>\n Her last studio album was 2024\u2019s \u2018Brat\u2019,\u00a0the release which became a cultural phenomenon<\/a>, giving rise to \u201c\u2019Brat\u2019 Summer\u201d and confirming Charli XCX as a global superstar. Since then, she has released\u00a0a soundtrack album for Emerald Fennell\u2019s\u00a0Wuthering Heights<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n As well as working on that soundtrack, the \u2018360\u2019 singer also penned music for the A24 film Mother Mary<\/em><\/a>\u00a0starring\u00a0Anne Hathaway<\/a>, starred in her own\u00a0mockumentary\u00a0The Moment<\/em><\/a>, taken on a role in\u00a0new romance \u200b\u200bErupcja<\/em><\/a>, and locked in a role in fantasy\u00a0100 Nights Of Hero<\/em>.<\/p>\n She also played a comedic version of herself in the TV show\u00a0Overcompensating<\/em><\/a>, and was recently\u00a0cast alongside\u00a0Supergirl<\/em>\u00a0star Milly Alcock in a new horror film<\/a>\u00a0directed by Takasi Miike.<\/p>\n As for upcoming live dates, this August, she\u2019ll return to the stage to make\u00a0her headline debut at Reading & Leeds<\/a>, topping the festival bill alongside\u00a0Fontaines D.C.<\/a>,\u00a0Raye<\/a>,\u00a0Florence + The Machine<\/a>,\u00a0Dave<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Chase & Status<\/a>.\u00a0Visit here<\/a>\u00a0for tickets and more information.<\/p>\n\n
