Met Gala is expected to bring \u201cvisually daring\u201d ensembles to the iconic museum steps this year.<\/p>\n
On Monday, May 4, Vogue will gather Hollywood<\/a>\u2019s biggest stars, like Sabrina Carpenter<\/a> and Teyana Taylor, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for fashion\u2019s biggest night of the year.<\/p>\n Although a few celebrities brought \u201cdefiant\u201d appearances to the event last year<\/a>, Fashion Week Brooklyn founder Rick Davy<\/a> believes this year will prove to be bolder. The stylist, who has dressed a few of the attendees in the past, has broken down the theme of Costume Art and shared what to expect out of the ensembles set to command attention on the Met steps.<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to Daily Express US, Rick said the 2026 Met Gala is \u201cshaping up to be one of the most visually daring in years, and not in a subtle way.<\/p>\n \u201cThis year\u2019s theme, \u2018Costume Art,\u2019 paired with the dress code \u2018Fashion Is Art,\u2019 pushes the red carpet into full exhibition mode, where the body itself becomes the canvas,” he explained.<\/p>\n Rick expects a \u201cshift\u201d at this year\u2019s Met Gala, explaining, \u201cUnlike past themes that leaned into specific eras or designers, 2026 is about the relationship between clothing and the human form across history, sculpture, and fine art.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The stylist believes the looks will \u201cfeel less like outfits and more like installations.\u201d<\/p>\n He believes the carpet will see anatomical silhouettes, body-mapped couture, \u201cnude illusion\u201d and sculputral draping inspired by marble statues.<\/p>\n Within the ensembles\u2019 compositon, Rick predicts experimentation with padding and reshaping that will \u201cexaggerate the figure.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is fashion as a concept, not just style,\u201d he pointed out.<\/p>\n He is setting the bar high with the co-chairs, Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams, who he says he \u201cexpects a high-gloss interpretation of the theme,\u201d describing the ladies\u2019 anticipated attire as \u201cpolished, powerful and headline-making.\u201d<\/p>\n On Monday, November 17, Vogue gave the first look at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring 2026 exhibition.
