Nocturnal Entertainment, a film and television financier and production company, has officially launched following the sale of its first feature, \u201cPlay Dead,\u201d to Netflix.<\/p>\n
Nocturnal Entertainment was built to support filmmakers, providing them with a technology-enabled creative suite, engaging with them early on in the creative process and staying closely involved throughout. Led by producers Keaton Heinrichs and Akiva Nemetsky, the company focuses on producing and backing studio-quality concepts while embracing the speed, control, flexibility and price point of the independent model.<\/p>\n
More from Variety<\/strong><\/p>\n Fully financed by Nocturnal, \u201cPlay Dead,\u201d a World War II thriller, was directed by\u00a0Jaume Collet-Serra. Noah Jupe (\u201cHamnet\u201d) and Matthias Schweigh\u00f6fer (\u201cOppenheimer\u201d) both star in the film.<\/p>\n \u201c\u2018Play Dead\u2019 reflects how we\u2019re built to operate,\u201d said Heinrichs and Nemetsky. \u201cWe back bold swings, period. Our job is to give filmmakers both the runway and the safety net to workshop ambitious ideas early, then execute them with modern production tools in a way that is both cinematic and disciplined.\u201d<\/p>\n The company will also focus on actively developing material for partners across the entertainment marketplace, including studios, filmmakers and streamers.
