SAN ANTONIO, TX \u2014 Two-time Latin Grammy winner Michael Salgado<\/a><\/strong> is gearing up for a major return to the Alamo City<\/strong> as he headlines one of the biggest Cinco de Mayo<\/strong> celebrations of the year alongside Latin music star Alicia Villarreal<\/a><\/strong> at Cowboys Dancehall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During a recent interview on\u00a0Tejano 95.7 FM<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0with morning host\u00a0Jonny Ramirez<\/a><\/strong>, Salgado shared his excitement about returning to San Antonio for the highly anticipated Cinco de Mayo concert on Tuesday, May 5<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a while since we performed in San Antonio,\u201d Salgado said. \u201cBut what better day than Cinco de Mayo? We want to invite everybody to come out\u2026 we\u2019ve got a little bit of a surprise at the beginning of my show for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event, billed as San Antonio\u2019s official Cinco de Mayo celebration, promises a full evening of entertainment with doors opening at 7 p.m., including mariachi performances and cultural showcases before the headliners take the stage. Salgado is expected to kick off his set around 9 p.m.<\/p>\n

Fans can expect a dynamic mix of classics and new material, including songs from his latest release,\u00a0Homenaje a Mis \u00cddolos Vol. 2<\/strong><\/em>, a tribute album honoring the legends who shaped his musical journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s kind of a tribute album where it\u2019s got a lot of great songs from a lot of great artists,\u201d Salgado explained. \u201cWe\u2019ll be performing some of those new songs, of course, and all the hits of the past \u2014 \u2018Cruz de Madera,\u2019 \u2018Palomita Blanca,\u2019 and many more.\u201d<\/p>\n

The concert also reunites Salgado and Villarreal on stage, something that hasn\u2019t happened frequently over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last time before recently was probably the late \u201990s,\u201d he said. \u201cSo it was great to reconnect, and now we\u2019re doing it again.\u201d<\/p>\n

While fans can look forward to a memorable performance, Salgado hinted that the collaboration with Villarreal might not end there.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a good question,\u201d he said when asked about a potential duet. \u201cMaybe when I see her tomorrow, we\u2019ll throw that in and see what comes of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beyond the stage, Salgado continues to evolve as an artist more than three decades into his career. The Tejano star revealed he is currently working on a new country album, expanding his signature conjunto sound into new territory.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got a couple of songs in the works right now,\u201d he shared. \u201cOne of them is called \u2018Sipping on Some Patr\u00f3n,\u2019 something a little different than what I\u2019ve done. And another one, \u2018Still Missing You,\u2019 is more of a feel song for those who\u2019ve lost someone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reflecting on his longevity, Salgado acknowledged how much the industry has changed since his early days.<\/p>\n

\u201cThirty-one years now,\u201d he said. \u201cI remember going to radio in \u201994, \u201995\u2026 and like they say, don\u2019t blink, because 30 years later, here we are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the changes, his connection with fans remains strong \u2014 something he deeply appreciates.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks, San Antonio, for always being a supporter,\u201d Salgado said. \u201cMake sure to come out and join us\u2026 it\u2019s going to be a great night.\u201d<\/p>\n
