Comedy favorite\u00a0Celebrity Autobiography<\/em> will bow on Broadway later this month. The show, with a rotating cast of stage and screen favorites, will come to the Shubert Theatre beginning May 16, officially opening May 20.<\/p>\n The show, created by Eugene Pack<\/a> and co-developed with Dayle Reyfel,\u00a0is coming to the Main Stem after several hit runs internationally, including an Off-Broadway run that won the 2009 Drama Desk for Unique Theatrical Experience and other bows in London’s West End, Sydney Opera House, and more. Pack and Reyfel will direct the Broadway bow.<\/p>\n The performance features a rotating company\u00a0reading actual excerpts from celebrity memoirs. According to press notes, each performance could and will be different. Most stars will have one-to two-week stints, but others might appear for a performance or two, and press notes share that audiences should expect “surprise guests … from time to time” as well.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is show is inspired by the ‘important’ revealing details recounted in celebrity memoirs\u2014what they eat in every restaurant, how they stack\u00a0their clothes, what they keep in their freezer, and how hard hard their jobs are,”\u00a0shares Pack.<\/p>\n The opening cast will feature Scott Adsit (30 Rock<\/em>), Mario Cantone<\/a> (Sex and the City<\/em>), Jeff Hiller<\/a> (Somebody Somewhere<\/em>), Jackie Hoffman<\/a> (Only Murders in the Building<\/em>), Christopher Jackson<\/a> (Hamilton<\/em>), Gayle King (CBS Mornings<\/em>),\u00a0Andrea Martin<\/a> (McNeal<\/a><\/em>), Bobby Moynihan (SNL<\/em>), Ben Mankiewicz (Turner Classic Movies), Kenan Thompson (SNL<\/em>), Nia Vardalos<\/a> (My Big Fat Greek Wedding<\/em>), and Rita Wilson<\/a> (Sleepless in Seattle<\/em>). Wilson is also on the producing team.<\/p>\n As for after that, we’re told to expect some combination of people from a “constantly-expanding” roster that includes\u00a0Brooke Adams<\/a>, Pamela Adlon,\u00a0Lewis Black<\/a>,\u00a0Christie Brinkley<\/a>, Danny Burstein<\/a>,\u00a0Bob Costas,\u00a0Tate Donovan<\/a>,\u00a0Chloe Fineman<\/a>,\u00a0Will Forte,\u00a0Gina Gershon<\/a>,\u00a0Kathy Griffin<\/a>,\u00a0Ken Jeong,\u00a0Stewart Lane,\u00a0Susan Lucci<\/a>,\u00a0Ralph Macchio<\/a>, Donna McKechnie<\/a>,\u00a0Eric McCormack<\/a>,\u00a0Laraine Newman<\/a>,\u00a0Oscar Nunez,\u00a0Cheri Oteri,\u00a0Tiler Peck<\/a>,\u00a0Billy Porter<\/a>,\u00a0Phil Rosenthall,\u00a0Tony Shalhoub<\/a>,\u00a0Sherri Shepherd,\u00a0Molly Shannon<\/a>,\u00a0Jennifer Tilly<\/a>,\u00a0Bruce Vilanch<\/a>, and\u00a0Alan Zweibel<\/a>. Co-directors and show creators Pack and Reyfel will join each night’s celebrity guests on stage.\u00a0More casting will be announced. I had seen the show several\u00a0times at the Triad Theatre and felt the hilarity and comedic genius of Celebrity\u00a0Autobiography<\/em> deserves a proper run on Broadway\u2026now more than ever!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAll the celebrity performers are thrilled to work\/play together\u2014many\u00a0working together for the first time,”\u00a0adds Reyfel. “It is so exciting to bring these hilarious ‘you\u00a0can’t believe they wrote em,’ making each night, unique, raw, live and spontaneous\u2014a comedy rock concert!\u201d<\/p>\n The staging will feature scenic design by Derek McLane<\/a>, lighting design by Ed McCarthy<\/a>, and sound design by Palmer Hefferan<\/a>.\u00a0The Broadway run will be produced by Wilson, Eric Falkenstein<\/a>, Douglas Denoff, Fraboni, Peter Martin<\/a>, and EP Productions<\/a>.
