\n\tWith albums like II<\/em> (2017) and Tripolar<\/em> (2023), the trio known as Usted Se\u00f1alemelo<\/a> established itself as one of the most visionary bands in the highly competitive field of Argentine rock<\/a>. But the band\u2019s ascent was never loud or glamorous. Hailing from the province of Mendoza, Usted works their magic in subtle ways.<\/p>\n \n\tThe band\u2019s recently released fourth album, T\u00e9rminos & Condiciones<\/em>, finds singer Juan Saieg, guitarist Gabriel Coc\u00f3 Orozco and drummer Lucca Beguerie Petrich fusing melodramatic synth-pop, touches of South American folk, and lush electronica with cosmopolitan glee. The late-night decadence of \u201cDando vueltas\u201d \u2014 an anthemic collaboration with Portugal. The Man<\/a> \u2013 and the hyper-romantic rock chorus of \u201cMarca Piel\u201d reveal a band at its creative apex.<\/p>\n \n\tA few weeks before launching a tour that will find them playing all over Latin America and Europe, the band talked to Rolling Stone<\/em> about its fastidious approach to layering sounds and the daring decision to pare things down and perform the new songs as a trio.<\/p>\n \n\tIt\u2019s been a couple of months since T\u00e9rminos & Condiciones<\/em> came out. Do you feel the temptation to obsessively check your streaming numbers?<\/strong>
Saieg: Usted has always focused on a long-term plan, so we try not to get too anxious about those things. Obviously it\u2019s hard not to fall into the trap, especially when you\u2019re sensitive or a bit OCD, as all of us tend to be. We try to use the metrics in a healthy way.<\/p>\n
