Fans expected The Devil Wears Prada 2<\/a> to be filled with celebrity cameos \u2014 and the long-awaited sequel to the 2006 hit did not disappoint.<\/p>\n

Golfer Rory McIlroy<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s appearance had director David Frankel<\/strong> especially excited.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean I loved having Rory McIlroy,\u201d Frankel, 67, told reporters<\/a> during the film\u2019s European premiere in London. \u201cHe was a great sport. A very good actor.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that McIlroy\u2019s appearance came as the result of an interview he did at the Players Championship last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know it was triggered because last year, right before he won the Players Championship<\/a>, the press asked him what he did to relax the night before he won the tournament, and he said he watched The Devil Wears Prada,\u201d Frankel explained. \u201cI knew we had a fan.\u201d<\/p>\n

McIlroy, 37, won the 2025 Players Championship last March, defeating J.J. Spaun<\/strong> in a thrilling three-hole playoff.<\/p>\n

\u201cI needed to reset,\u201d he told reporters after his win, referencing the rough round he played the day before. \u201cOnce I got back to the hotel, I just tried to sort of forget about it and had some room service, watched a little bit of Devil Wears Prada and went to bed. That was basically it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cThen when I woke up this morning \u2014 I woke up at 3:00 this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I was \u2014 I was as nervous as I can remember.\u201d<\/p>\n

McIlroy wasn\u2019t the only athlete to make a cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2. New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns<\/strong> also made an appearance. The film also featured cameos from numerous celebrities, including Ciara<\/strong>, Jon Batiste<\/strong>, Donatella Versace<\/strong>, Heidi Klum<\/strong>, Winnie Harlow<\/strong> and more.<\/p>\n

The film isn\u2019t the only major sequel that McIlroy has appeared in recently, either. He also had a small role in Netflix\u2019s Happy Gilmore 2, released in July 2025. A month after the film hit the streaming service, however, the golfer admitted he still hadn\u2019t watched the movie<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t even watched the movie yet, because I don\u2019t want to see myself trying to act,\u201d he told Kate Mackz<\/strong> of The Running Interview Show in August. \u201cI am going to try and watch it this week maybe but it was an amazing experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

McIlroy continued, \u201cAdam Sandler<\/strong> is the best, he\u2019s such a nice guy. He made us feel so comfortable but I am not going to give up my day job anytime soon. \u2026 I think that\u2019s the great thing about being in this position, you get to be in the company of the people that are the best at what they do whether it\u2019s Sandler in acting or whether you admire other sportspeople at the top of their game \u2026 to be able to spend a little bit of time with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
