A\u00a0new documentary from producers Taraji P. Henson<\/a> (Joe Turner’s Come and Gone<\/a><\/em>) and Mark Selby swill focus on the life and career of singing legend and Broadway vet Darlene Love<\/a>, according to a report<\/a> in Deadline.\u00a0Darlene Love: I Know Where I’ve Been<\/em> (drawing its title from the anthem Love sang in the original production of\u00a0Hairspray<\/a><\/em>) is being directed by\u00a0Barry Avrich.<\/p>\n The documentary, which doesn’t yet have a release date, will not be Love’s first. One of the most noted studio singers of the mid-century and an inductee in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Love was one of the central figures of 2013’s\u00a020 Feet From Stardom<\/em>, about backup singers. Love’s best known classics include “Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)” and “He’s a Rebel,” though the latter was originally credited to The Crystals.<\/p>\n Love has been able to step out of the shadows several times on Broadway, bringing her iconic vocals to\u00a0Leader of the Pack<\/a><\/em> in 1985, the infamous original Broadway production of\u00a0Carrie<\/a><\/em>, the 1994 revival of\u00a0Grease<\/a><\/em>, and the original 2002 production of\u00a0Hairspray<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
