\n invite the public to a special Pentecost weekend on 23 and 24 May
\n 2026. This year\u2019s \u201cStaatsoper f\u00fcr alle\u201d marks its 20th edition \u2013 two
\n decades of one of Berlin\u2019s largest and most beloved open\u2011air classical
\n music events. At one of the city’s most beautiful and historically
\n significant squares, Bebelplatz, Berliners and visitors from around
\n the world are once again invited to experience opera and concerts
\n outdoors, free of charge thanks to BMW.<\/p>\n
\n 6.00pm<\/strong> with a live broadcast of Giuseppe
\n Verdi\u2019s \u201cNabucco\u201d<\/strong> from the Staatsoper onto the adjacent
\n Bebelplatz. Centering on the fate of two peoples and the actions of
\n its title character, the opera features the famous chorus \u201cVa,
\n pensiero\u201d. The production, created by the acclaimed opera, theatre and
\n film director Emma Dante, premiered at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden
\n in 2024. The cast includes Igor Golovatenko, Lidia Fridman, Tareq
\n Nazmi, Elena Maximova, Andr\u00e9s Moreno Garc\u00eda, Clara Nadeshdin, Junho
\n Hwang and Hanseong Yun; the Staatskapelle Berlin will perform under
\n the baton of Francesco Lanzillotta, accompanied by the
\n Staatsopernchor. Verdi\u2019s \u201cNabucco\u201d will be presented in a top\u2011flight
\n cast and is free to attend.<\/p>\n
\n Bebelplatz will be transformed into a large open\u2011air concert stage:
\n the Staatskapelle Berlin, led by General Music Director Christian
\n Thielemann, and BMW invite audiences to the BMW Classicsconcert as
\n part of \u201cStaatsoper f\u00fcr alle\u201d. The programme features works by Ludwig
\n van Beethoven \u2013 the Overture to Coriolan, Op. 62; Symphony No. 6 in F
\n major, Op. 68 (\u201cPastoral\u201d); and the Overture to Egmont, Op. 84.<\/p>\n
\n choir will perform at 11.30am<\/strong> under the direction of
\n Giuseppe Mentuccia. The performance will feature singers from the
\n Staatsoper Unter den Linden\u2019s international opera studio, including
\n Sonja Herranen, Sandra Laagus, Serafina Starke, Junho Hwang and Irakli
\n Pkhaladze, with music by Jacques Offenbach, Charles Gounod and Jules Massenet.<\/p>\n
\n Governing Mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner, and will be moderated by
\n journalist and presenter Petra Gute. As in previous years, the opera
\n performance at the Staatsoper will be accompanied by a red\u2011carpet
\n event, with numerous prominent guests expected.<\/p>\n
\n long\u2011standing partnership between the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and
\n BMW. Over two decades it has become a fixed highlight of Berlin\u2019s
\n cultural calendar, giving tens of thousands of people each year easy
