Usher is partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Detroit to offer opportunities for interns to learn the touring biz; applications are open now.<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

Usher is looking for a few good interns.<\/p>\n\n

The R&B superstar \u2014 who is soon to launch his R&B Tour with Chris Brown, which will play a record three nights at Ford Field<\/a> on July 2, 3 and 5 \u2014 is launching an intern program for the tour, in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Detroit and his Usher\u2019s New Look organization.<\/p>\n

Called the Entertainment Industry Club: Live Touring Edition, the program will select 10 interns from Detroit and Usher’s hometown of Atlanta to participate in an 11-week program in order to gain hands-on experience in the fields of production, wardrobe, multimedia, community impact, and operations as the R&B Tour hits the road.<\/p>\n

Applications for the paid positions are open now through Friday via Ushersnewlook.org<\/a>; applicants, who must be 18 or older, are encouraged to apply early.<\/p>\n

“This program is opening doors and putting young professionals in a position to learn, grow, and work inside the entertainment trades,” Usher said in a statement. “It’s about giving them a real opportunity.”<\/p>\n\n

Shawn H. Wilson, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Detroit and co-founder of Usher’s New Look, echoed Usher’s words.<\/p>\n

“The live touring industry is a multi-billion dollar global business \u2014 yet access to the entertainment trades remain limited,” Wilson said in a statement. “Together, we’re changing that by placing young professionals on one of the most historic tours and turning access into real pathways to lasting careers.”<\/p>\n

In February, Usher attended the opening of the Detroit Entertainment Innovation Incubator<\/a>, a new $1 million entertainment production facility for Detroit youth inside the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan, inside Michigan Central.<\/p>\n

Usher is a backer of the project, along with Detroit rapper Big Sean; both are Boys & Girls Clubs alums and members of the organization’s Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n\n

Usher and Chris Brown’s R&B Tour was announced last month, and Detroit is one of several cities hosting three nights on the stadium tour.<\/p>\n
