The stars of \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada 2<\/strong><\/a>,\u201d undeniably one of the biggest and most anticipated movies of 2026, have reunited at this year\u2019s Met Gala, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, but sans Meryl Streep whose character in the film Miranda Priestly would kill to attend. <\/p>\n

As seen on the Met Gala carpet, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci and Simone Ashley<\/strong><\/a> all graced the annual fete, but most of them noticeably played it safe in their outfit of choice.<\/p>\n

Streep has previously already given word that she is not attending, as in the past years, the event, which is perennially hosted by Anna Wintour, Cond\u00e9 Nast\u2019s Global chief content officer and global editorial director for Vogue magazine, and who famously inspired the character of Miranda Priestly. <\/p>\n

Unlike the uneasy, if not somewhat strained, reception in the first \u201cThe Devil Wears Prada\u201d movie, Wintour gamely joined in the promotions of the film (though she did not make the final cut of the movie), stepped on the Oscars stage with Hathaway in March, and even joined Streep on the May cover of Vogue.<\/p>\n

A statement made to People magazine on May 4 said, \u201cMeryl has been invited to the Met Gala for many years but has never attended\u2026 While she appreciates Vogue, Anna [Wintour] and her incredible imagination and stamina\u2014it has never quite been her scene.\u201d Still, many hoped that Streep would finally make an appearance at the Met. <\/p>\n

For this year\u2019s Met Gala, held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the guests were asked to follow the theme \u201cCostume Art.\u201d The brief enjoined guests to \u201cexplore the interpretation of the body in the form of clothing that goes well beyond the surface of what the body is and means,\u201d which is why many celebrities took notes from famous paintings, sculptures, elements of culture, and classic moments in film in their looks.<\/p>\n

Coming from the high-stakes fashion of \u201cPrada 2,\u201d Hathaway and Emily Blunt went for more subdued looks at the Met Gala, in contrast to the more glamorous outfits they wore in the film and its promotional activities.<\/p>\n

Graduating from Andrea Sachs\u2019 functional outfits, Hathaway, instead, embodied the spirit of Genovian royalty in a black Mikado ball gown featuring hand-painted patterns by American artist Peter McGough.<\/p>\n

According to Vogue, McGough said the paintings of statues and building pillars took inspiration from John Keats 1819 poem \u201cOde on a Grecian Urn,\u201d adding that the dress is a portrayal of turning a\u201c person into an object of art.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blunt \u2014 a true-blue scene-stealer in the two films both in the delivery of her lines and fashion-wise \u2014 dressed up in a simple Ashi Studio two-piece, composed of a corseted lace and a Mikimoto pearl body necklace, which follows the edgy fashion that her character Emily Charlton is known for.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a lot of fun working with [my stylist Jessica Paster], and deciding how we would interpret the theme this year. When we saw this extraordinary creation from Mikimoto, we knew it was perfect; it feels like wearable art and captures the idea of jewelry becoming part of the garment,\u201d the actress told fashion publication WWD.<\/p>\n

Ashley showed off her physique in a Stella McCartney chain dress, which was accessorized with matching silver jewelry.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Tucci came with his wife Felicity, who is Blunt\u2019s sister. The actor made his character Nigel proud with his dapper velvet moss green tuxedo and dark sunglasses. <\/p>\n

The four core stars of \u201cPrada\u201d reprised their roles in the sequel, but with subtle nuances to their characters. <\/p>\n

Hathaway as Andy Sachs, stuck to her ideals but grew more mature, not just with her fashion choices, but with the grounded knowledge that her world is bigger than herself, yet smaller, in the grander scheme of things. <\/p>\n

Blunt, as Emily Charlton, now works as a marketing executive for a fashion brand. In the film, her outfits were more signature-heavy to showcase the luxury brand she is now working for, though they still had the same edge to match her biting personality.<\/p>\n

On the red carpet, the actress wore outfits in shades of black, white, and red, faithful to the film\u2019s theme, often featuring structured silhouettes that showcased her fearless fashion sense.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since Ashley stars as Miranda Priestly\u2019s trusted assistant and right-hand woman, Amari, in the film, her outfits are often glamorous to effectively present herself as a representative of the editor-in-chief. Call her outfits the epitome of a Runway girl, if you will.<\/p>\n
