Whitney Leavitt is leaving \u201cThe Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n The reality star announced the news during her final performance of \u201cChicago<\/a>\u201d on Sunday. Leavitt has played tap-dancing murderess Roxie Hart in the Broadway revival since February. TMZ<\/a> published a video of the moment, in which a Broadway castmate shows Leavitt a newspaper mid-scene. Leavitt, in character as Hart, points to the headline and reads aloud: \u201cWhitney Leavitt announces she\u2019s leaving \u2018The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.\u2019\u201d The audience is heard hollering and cheering. <\/p>\n Leavitt followed the big reveal with an Instagram video Tuesday morning and assured fans that, although the forthcoming season will be her last, she would still appear in Season 5 of the Hulu series.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s honestly so crazy to me looking back on this journey, because I had been trying to get into theater, film, way before \u2018Secret Lives\u2019 even came into my life,\u201d she said. \u201cThe reality show just fell into my lap organically and I said yes to it. It\u2019s definitely not the path that I had envisioned in my mind to get to where I am today, but I wouldn\u2019t change a thing. I have experienced so much with this group of women, and through that process, I have also learned so much about myself.\u201d<\/p>\n Leavitt continued, saying that the \u201cMormon Wives\u201d had been through so much together, including more extreme highs and lows than audiences have seen. \u201cNo matter what happens with our relationships, that is something that will always be a part of our life, that will always be a part of my life, and I wouldn\u2019t change a thing.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe times I\u2019ve walked away from \u2018MomTok,\u2019 it came from a place of anger and frustration,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut this time, it\u2019s significantly different, because I\u2019m leaving with gratitude. I feel content. I feel like this is a chapter that\u2019s closing in my life, and honestly, I believe that\u2019s how it was always meant to be. I\u2019m so grateful for \u2018The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.\u2019 It\u2019s gotten me where I am today. It\u2019s given me the opportunities that you all have seen. But I\u2019m ready. I\u2019m ready for the next chapter. And I cannot wait to share with you guys what\u2019s next.\u201d<\/p>\n Much like her \u201cChicago\u201d character, Leavitt\u2019s place in the spotlight has come with less-than-favorable tabloid fodder. She told \u201cOprah Daily\u201d that, although she doesn\u2019t fully agree that she\u2019s a series \u201cvillain,\u201d she\u2019s embraced her on-screen persona. She\u2019s been candid about being a \u201cvery ambitious woman\u201d and using \u201cSecret Lives\u201d as a launchpad for a career in Hollywood \u2014 and this isn\u2019t the first time she\u2019s departed the show. <\/p>\n \u201cI had walked away from the show,\u201d she told Gayle King<\/a> about her brief hiatus after Season 2. \u201cI wasn\u2019t enjoying it anymore. I left the show, and then they were almost midway through the season, and I got a call from the producers, and they said, \u2018If you come back, we know that you really want this opportunity to go on \u201cDancing With the Stars,\u201d but the only way that you would get this opportunity is to come back and film.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Last year, Leavitt partnered up with pro dancer Mark Ballas and competed on Season 34 of \u201cDancing With the Stars.\u201d She was eliminated in the semifinals, finishing in sixth place, but her \u201cCell Block Tango<\/a>\u201d performance impressed casting directors of the long-running Broadway production. One thing led to another, and the reality star was headed to Broadway. <\/p>\n Although Salt Lake City may not be known for the excitement synonymous with the Big Apple, Leavitt has plenty of drama to keep her busy back in production on \u201cMormon Wives.\u201d <\/p>\n
