Deep Purple<\/a> has announced a new album of \u201cmusic for the end of humanity\u201d set for release on July 3rd, titled Splat!<\/em><\/p>\n

The band has once again teamed up with renowned producer Bob Ezrin<\/a> to craft an album that \u201cdraws on the sound and attitude that has always set Deep Purple apart from the rest.\u201d Ezrin is known elsewhere for his work with Kiss, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, and Alice Cooper. <\/p>\n

Following up their last release, 2024\u2019s =1, <\/em>the band has hinted that Splat! <\/em>will be \u201cthe heaviest Deep Purple album in many years.\u201d <\/p>\n

Looking forward to the release, frontman Ian Gillan has shared, \u201cWhere we are now with this incarnation of Deep Purple feels very much like a very \u2018now\u2019 version of Deep Purple as it was in the seventies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since their formation in 1968, the band has sold more than 120 million albums. However, rather than looking at the past, the new batch of songs are influenced by our current political climate.<\/p>\n

In this way, Splat! <\/em>promises to exploree \u201cthe end of humanity<\/a> not in any crude apocalyptic sense but as a metamorphosis beyond physical existence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gillan added that the band \u201care very much back in with material that is compatible with \u2018Highway Star\u2019, \u2018Smoke on the Water\u2019, \u2018Lazy\u2019 \u2013 the dynamics, the balance, and the fun of the music we made from 1969 to 1973.\u201d<\/p>\n

The band shows no signs of slowing down: They will continue their extensive 2026 touring schedule, a staggering 86 shows across 28 countries, spanning three continents.<\/p>\n

On their travels, the band recently paid a special visit to an especially high-profile fan,\u00a0Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi,\u00a0who has cited them as her favourite band alongside Black Sabbath<\/a> and Iron Maiden.<\/p>\n
