The couple\u2019s sons, August, five, and Ernest, two, are “very excited” to welcome a younger sister or brother to the family. The announcement was accompanied by a picture of the two siblings holding a baby scan of the latest future royal arrival.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Now a royal commentator has claimed that the announcement, which was made through Buckingham Palace rather than a private channel, speaks volumes about the Firm\u2019s stance when it comes to Andrew Moutbatten-Windsor\u2019s daughters.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Royal expert Afua Acheampong-Hagan told the Mirror<\/a>: \u201cI think it is interesting that, although there was a post on social media as well, the official announcement came from Buckingham Palace.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI think this does mean she is clearly still in favour with the Royal Family.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ms Acheampong-Hagan suggested the King may have tried to send a \u201cclear message\u201d about how protective he is of his niece.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She explained: \u201cI think it also gives her a bit of protection at this time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cA delicate time, early pregnancy, but also that kind of umbrella gathering in of the Royal Family announcing signifies, ‘She’s still under our wing, she’s under our protection, she’s taken care of’.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cIt’s kind of a bit of a ‘Back off, we’re protecting this girl, our granddaughter, our niece, at this delicate time, and that’s why we’re announcing’.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The baby, who will not be an HRH, will be born 15th in line to the throne, with their great uncle, the Duke of Edinburgh, moving down to 16th place.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He or she will also be the 15th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II, and the third to be born since her death in 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The new arrival will be the fifth grandchild of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, following the birth of Princess Beatrice<\/a>\u2019s daughter Athena Mapelli Mozzi in January last year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
