\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCoal Vines Pizza and Wine Bar<\/a> in Southlake seeks to create an experience for guests through its coal-fired pizza, wine selection, unique cocktails and nights with live opera performances, owner Darren Wick said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s that concierge level of service that we’re trying to go for here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

What makes them special? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Coal Vines hosted its first special ticketed event at the end of March, where guests saw a live opera performance paired with six courses and six wines, Wick said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only did we pair the food with the wine but with the song as well,\u201d he said. \u201cIt took a long time to work out how to pair all three of those together, and it was a hit.\u201d<\/p>\n

The eatery plans to continue hosting special events for guests, including additional Italian opera nights, a tango night and an evening with tenor singers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we wanted to do was provide an entire experience for people,\u201d Wick said. \u201cThat means bringing some form of entertainment into what they’re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the menu <\/strong><\/p>\n

Coal Vines\u2019 pizza is scratch-made with fresh ingredients, Wick said. The pizza menu includes the freestyle pepperoni, which has regular pepperoni, cupped smoky pepperoni and crisp pepperoni with black pepper and garlic. The El Chappo pizza has housemade sauce, mozzarella, ground Mexican chorizo, cilantro and lime.<\/p>\n

The restaurant also serves pasta dishes with housemade sauces, including its vodka sauce.<\/p>\n

\u201c[The vodka sauce is] exceptional and everything that we put it with turns into an exceptional dish,\u201d Wick said. \u201cWe got four pizzas [that] have it on now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wick also highlighted the restaurant\u2019s drunken meatball dish, which is large meatballs topped with vodka sauce, cilantro and cheese.<\/p>\n

Signature cocktails include the Affogato cocktail, which has two scoops of gelato, a shaken espresso martini and a Cadbury chocolate stick imported from the U.K.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat chocolate stick concept comes from England when I was a little boy,\u201d Wick said. \u201cIf you were a good little boy, you would get soft serve ice cream, and they would stick one of those sticks in it for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The restaurant also has a selection of over 90 wines, he said.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead<\/strong><\/p>\n

Though Coal Vines plans to take a hiatus from events during the summer, new monthly events will begin again in August with its third Italian Opera night, Wick said.<\/p>\n

Wick also said that Coal Vines recently released a new cocktail menu and will add more wines to their selection.<\/p>\n
