\u201cHangover<\/a>\u201d star Zach Galifianakis<\/a> is tearing into fellow comedians who have had President Donald Trump<\/a> on their podcasts without pushing back against his claims or doing their jobs as modern-day court jesters \u2014 and he\u2019s recalling holding power to account himself a few times too.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The actor made his case on Monday\u2019s episode of \u201cConan O\u2019Brien Needs a Friend,\u201d where the host argued nobody has talked to the sitting president the way Galfianakis did<\/a> when he interviewed then-President Barack Obama<\/a> in 2014 on his satirical talk show \u201cBetween Two Ferns.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cWell, all the podcasters that have had the president on now, they don\u2019t do their court jester,\u201d Galifianakis said<\/a>. \u201cThey don\u2019t do it. They just, they suck up to him. So, the \u2018comedians\u2019 that are podcasters that have had Trump on, they\u2019re not doing their job.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n He continued: \u201cThat\u2019s not the job of a comedian. You are to challenge, you are to make uncomfortable \u2014 you\u2019re not to sit there and fake laugh. That is not the job of the court jester, period. So, there is a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Galifianakis exploded on the Hollywood scene when \u201cThe Hangover\u201d was released in 2010, but had already made a name for himself as a stand-up comedian and host of \u201cBetween Two Ferns,\u201d named after the plants on his set.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAnd whatever their motive is, fine,\u201d he told O\u2019Brien. \u201cBut the comedy has to come first.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The entertainer named no names during his conversation with O\u2019Brien, but was clearly referring to the so-called manosphere<\/a> podcasters who interviewed Trump ahead of the 2024 election, including Joe Rogan<\/a>, Andrew Schulz<\/a> and Theo Von<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI remember when I interviewed [former Secretary of State] Hillary Clinton \u2014 and I could tell she didn\u2019t want to be there, and I totally get that, I get it \u2014 but before we had set that whole thing up, they wrote back, \u2018Well, you can\u2019t bring up those emails,\u2019\u201d Galifianakis said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAnd I go, \u2018Well, we don\u2019t have to do the interview.
