Now, the famous talk-show host has come forward to address fans who are critical of his new LOTR writing gig.<\/p>\n St<\/a>ephen Colbert weighs in on criticism regarding his writing the new The Lord of the Rings movie script. He confessed that he\u2019s aware that a certain section of fans thinks that the only reason he is co-writing the upcoming installment is that he is famous. However, he revealed he is not going to fuel this fire further.<\/p>\n The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> asked Colbert to address the criticism surrounding his new LOTR writing gig and why fans should trust him. To which he replied, \u201cI mean, there\u2019s no reason to [share why].\u201d Continuing further, Colbert said, \u201cAnd there\u2019s no value in me addressing that because all you can do as \u2014 I\u2019ll use a loaded term here \u2014 an artist is follow your heart and the craft that you have learned to try to turn this into something that is not fandom but drama.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd luckily, I don\u2019t have to do this alone. I have a great Sherpa in [co-writer and LOTR veteran] Philippa Boyens, who cares about it in the same way I do. And I will just say that every moment has been a joy so far,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n On March 25, Warner Bros.\u2019 official X account<\/a> shared the announcement. They added the caption, \u201cIn honor of Tolkien Reading Day and the destruction of the One Ring, we bring you a special announcement.\u201d In the video, Peter Jackson welcomed Colbert and his son on board as new collaborators for a new film. The film is titled The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past.<\/p>\n At the time, Colbert admitted that he was \u201cpretty happy\u201d to be writing the next movie in the famed fantasy series.
