\u201cLate Show\u201d host Stephen Colbert<\/a> exposed President Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s repeated lies about his planned $400 million White House ballroom after Republicans<\/a> included $1 billion for the project in their reconciliation package released on Monday.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cOkay, I know it\u2019s hard to wrap your head around a billion dollars,\u201d Colbert said. \u201cLet me put that in layman\u2019s terms, that is bullshit. Because from the whole start of this thing, Trump has had one unwavering promise about his ballroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Colbert then played a supercut of Trump promising that no taxpayer money would be used to build the ballroom. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cBy the way, zero money spent by the government, zero,\u201d Trump said in one clip. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIt\u2019s all donations, rich people and people are putting up the money, zero taxpayer dollars,\u201d he claimed in another. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cHow ironic,\u201d Colbert said. \u201cTo lie that blatantly takes a lot of balls. And he still hasn\u2019t built the room to store them.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Since the apparent assassination attempt on Trump at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Association Dinner, the president has doubled down on the argument that the ballroom is needed for security purposes. Congressional Republicans have followed suit, using the apparent political capital they have in the wake of the shooting to push through the $1 billion request<\/a> for the ballroom. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
