This Boards Of Canada rollout is getting real. Last month, the Scottish electronic duo mailed a mysterious VHS tape<\/a> to fans, shared an excerpt of new music<\/a>, and finally, officially announced Inferno<\/a><\/em>, their first new album since Tomorrow’s Harvest<\/a><\/em> in 2013<\/a>. Today we get a proper lead single.<\/p>\n “Introit” and “Prophecy At 1420 MHz” are actually two tracks on the album \u2014 the first two, to be exact. “Introit” is a quick 36-second intro, and things properly get cooking on “Prophecy At 1420 MHz.” The song has an ominous midtempo groove straight out of a high-tech late ’90s spy movie and even more ominous narration from a computerized voice. It’s not exactly like the hip-hop-infused electronic psychedelia of their early classics, nor the more searching ambient work that came later. But if you’ve been fiending for new BOC music for the past decade or so, I suspect this is going to scratch the itch.<\/p>\n The music comes with a video directed by Robert Beatty, the legendary artist and designer behind some of the best album covers of the past couple decade<\/a>.
