On Monday night, just days after The Devil Wears Prada 2<\/a> hit theaters, several members of the cast \u2014 including Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci \u2014 showed up to the Met Gala<\/a>, where they shared the beige carpet with controversial co-host Lauren S\u00e1nchez Bezos<\/a>.\u00a0One person who apparently was not so thrilled about the cast\u2019s presence at the gala: Molly Rogers<\/a>, the film\u2019s costume designer. Rogers \u2014 who also worked on the first movie as a costume assistant to her mentor, Pat Field \u2014 criticized\u00a0the Met Gala and its cozy relationship with the Bezoses on Wednesday during a panel held by Fashionphile, per \u201cPage Six.\u201d<\/a> \u201cI would not have gone,\u201d Rogers said. \u201cI am disappointed in people who did go. I know Meryl [Streep] did not go. I know others from our cast went, which is their prerogative.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although the Met Gala has long been a place for the ultrarich and famous to see and be seen, the event received even more backlash than usual this year thanks to the Bezoses\u2019<\/a> prominent roles.\u00a0Hours before the event kicked off, hundreds of people gathered for the Ball Without Billionaires<\/a>, a fashion show\u2013cum-protest in which Amazon workers served as the models. Later in the evening, as protesters gathered outside the museum, Chris Smalls<\/a>, who organized the first Amazon warehouse union, was arrested<\/a> after trying to force his way onto the carpet with an anti-Amazon protest sign.<\/p>\n

Rogers seemed to nod to Smalls\u2019s efforts on Wednesday, saying, \u201cI think the real artistry was the guy who was protesting outside.\u201d\u00a0She also weighed in with an official take on S\u00e1nchez Bezos\u2019s dress: \u201cHow did she make Schiaparelli look so cheap?!\u201d Miranda Priestly couldn\u2019t have put it any better.<\/p>\n
