\n\tCharli XCX<\/a> is back, but Brat Summer,<\/a> it seems, is officially over.<\/p>\n \n\tThe pop star released her new single \u201crock music\u201d Friday, along with an accompanying music video, and as the Charli sings: \u201cI think the dance floor is dead, so now we\u2019re making rock music.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHow much the British star\u2019s song can be considered rock will certainly be up for debate, but it\u2019s certainly got obvious rock influence, as evidenced by some hard-charging, heavily distorted guitar matching her synthesized vocals. <\/p>\n \n\tIn the music video, Charli walks through a black and white city, making out with guys and chain smoking profusely in a black and white landscape that only goes to color as she hits the chorus and makes the \u201crock music\u201d declaration. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cFor me, it\u2019s fun to flip the form,\u201d Charli told British Vogue<\/em> back in April of her latest song. \u201cWe know there\u2019s gonna be people who are bothered by it, but that\u2019s fine.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tThe song \u201cRock Music\u201d comes as Charli XCX has gotten herself increasingly involved in the film world. She released a companion album for Wuthering Heights <\/em>back in February, and she co-wrote much of the soundtrack for Mother Mary <\/a><\/em>with Jack Antonoff as well. Of course she also produced and starred in her mockumentary The Moment,<\/a> <\/em>which came out in January.<\/p>\n \n\tAside from the recordings, Charli\u2019s slated for some high profile festival slots this summer as well. She\u2019s headlining Lollapalooza in Chicago in July, San Francisco\u2019s Outside Lands in August and Austin City Limits in October. <\/p>\n \n\tCheck out the full music video for \u201crock music\u201d below:<\/p>\n
