Charli XCX<\/a> has shared her new single \u2018Rock Music\u2019. Check it out, and the mosh-heavy video, below.<\/p>\n Last month, Charli\u2019s team confirmed that she was finishing work on her new album<\/a>, and shortly afterwards, Charli herself implied the next release would be going in a rock direction. In an interview with British Vogue<\/i>, she declared, \u201cI think the dance floor is dead, so now we\u2019re making rock music\u201d<\/a>, though she later clarified<\/a>, \u201cI never said I was making a rock album.\u201d<\/p>\n It turns out she had been quoting directly from her new song, \u2018Rock Music\u2019, which sees her stray from the club atmosphere of 2024\u2019s \u2018Brat<\/a>\u2018 and embrace crunchy guitars. \u201cMe and my friends, we go out\/We take pictures and make stuff together\/And sometimes we cry\/We kiss each other, real incestuous vibes,\u201d\u00a0<\/em>she sings.<\/p>\n The song comes alongside a grungy music video, which sees her enlist collaborators A.G. Cook<\/a>, Finn Keane (formerly known as Easyfun) and her husband, The 1975<\/a>\u2018s George Daniel, as her rock band.<\/p>\n In a post on her unofficial Instagram account, b.sides, she explains that the video was directed by Aidan Zamiri (the filmmaker behind her mockumentary, The Moment<\/em><\/a>) while she was recording the song in Paris. \u201cIt was fun to be immediately reactive and come up with the idea for the video as the song was still being made.
