Her first new music proper since her 2024 cultural phenomenon \u2018brat\u2019 (not including this year\u2019s \u2018Wuthering Heights\u2019 soundtrack), today (Friday 8th May) she\u2019s returned with brand new single \u2018Rock Music\u2019, and it\u2019s a stormer of an offering.<\/p>\n<p>Introduced via a gnarly black and white video that wraps up rock\u2019n\u2019roll clich\u00e9s and makes them look edgy again (think sculptures made of ciggie butts and headbanging-induced neck braces), the track seems to move away from hyperreal club that lay at the heart of \u2018brat\u2019 and towards something that bit grittier.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But never fear, it\u2019s not the massive sidestep from the pop icon that people had been expecting &#8211; despite it\u2019s title, she\u2019s already <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DXzUxkTRssY\/\" class=\"charli-xcx-returns-new-track-rock-music-2023541\">taken to Instagram<\/a> to confirm the track\u2019s \u201cnot actually rock music which is funny because i never said i was making a rock album\u201d. We\u2019d expect nothing less.<\/p>\n<p>Check out the video for \u2018Rock Music\u2019 &#8211; which comes directed by Aidan Zamiri, and features an all-star band made up of The 1975\u2019s (and Charli\u2019s husband) George Daniel, as well as producers A.
