Justin Baldoni<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s lawyer is speaking out after Blake Lively<\/strong><\/a> requested damages following their recent settlement agreement.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> obtained court documents on Thursday, May 7, in which Lively, 38, claimed she was \u201centitled\u201d to receive damages<\/a> because of the \u201charm\u201d she suffered as a result of what she described as \u201cretaliatory defamation action\u201d by Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studios in their legal battle over the production of It Ends With Us<\/em><\/a>. (In December 2024, Lively sued Baldoni for sexual harassment, defamation, breach of contract, retaliation and more, however, 10 of the 13 claims<\/a> were dismissed by a judge last month. Baldoni countersued for $400 million but his lawsuit was dismissed entirely<\/a> in June 2025.)<\/p>\n

In the docs, Lively requested \u201c\u2018reasonable attorney\u2019s fees and costs for successfully defending [herself] in the litigation,\u2019 treble damages for the harm caused by the Wayfarer Parties\u2019 retaliatory \u2018defamation action\u2019 against her and punitive damages sufficient to deter the Wayfarer Parties from engaging in such conduct in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baldoni\u2019s lawyer, Bryan Freedman<\/strong>, told Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> on Thursday that he was surprised by Lively\u2019s latest legal move after the parties announced on Monday, May 4, they had reached a settlement.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s impossible for Ms. Lively to take responsibility for any part of her actions,\u201d he added. \u201cIf one can\u2019t see themselves, one can\u2019t honestly, realistically, look at their part in things, it makes for a troubled existence.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Lively\u2019s attorneys, Michael Gottlieb<\/strong> and Esra Hudson<\/strong>, deemed the settlement a \u201cresounding victory\u201d for Lively<\/a> and explained why they are seeking damages on their client\u2019s behalf.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy agreeing to this settlement, and waiving their right to appeal, Justin Baldoni and every individual defendant now face personal liability for abusing the legal system to silence and intimidate Ms. Lively,\u201d the attorneys said. \u201cAnd by admitting that Ms. Lively\u2019s concerns \u2018deserved to be heard,\u2019 the defendants have ended once and for all the fiction that Ms. Lively \u2018fabricated\u2019 claims of sexual harassment and retaliation.\u201d<\/p>\n

He responded, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t want to reveal whatever my client\u2019s confidences are, but from day one, we\u2019ve been saying we would never settle this case, and Justin has been saying we would never settle this case if it involved an allegation of sexual harassment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll see how the judge rules on that,\u201d he added of Lively\u2019s request for damages. \u201cI have a feeling Ms. Lively will probably continue to go back into court. \u2026 At some point, somebody\u2019s got to look in the mirror and take responsibility for their own actions.
