President Donald Trump<\/span><\/a><\/strong> was not impressed with one question from ABC News senior political correspondent Rachel Scott<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. President, you are here against the backdrop of the war in Iran,\u201d Scott, 33, asked Trump, 79, on Thursday, May 7, during a brief Q&A with reporters. \u201cWhy focus on all these projects right now when we\u2019re still seeing gas prices soar?\u201d<\/p>\n

While explaining his renovation updates to the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument, Trump slammed Scott for her inquiry.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s such a stupid question you ask,\u201d he replied. \u201cWe\u2019re fixing up the reflecting pond to the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and you say, \u2018Why are you fixing it up?\u2019 You can understand dirt maybe better than I can, but I don\u2019t allow it. This is one of the worst reporters. She\u2019s with ABC Fake News, and she\u2019s a horror show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump continued to answer questions from a few more reporters, including one unrelated to the renovations from a separate ABC News reporter.<\/p>\n

After the exchange started spreading online, Scott shared a clip of the tense moment to her X account. She also posted an objective summary of what transpired during the Q&A.<\/p>\n

\u201cI asked the president why focus on these projects now amid the backdrop of the war in Iran and as gas prices soar,\u201d Scott wrote via X<\/span><\/a> on Thursday. \u201cHe said the question was \u2018stupid\u2019 and a \u2018disgrace to the country\u2019 saying he\u2019s \u2018fixing\u2019 the reflecting pool.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is far from the first time Trump has attacked Scott and other reporters for questions he deems unnecessary.<\/p>\n

In December 2025, the president held a roundtable in the Cabinet Room, where Scott asked a question about the controversial military strike on a Venezuelan boat that was said to be carrying illegal drugs.<\/p>\n
