The pair talked about President <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/people\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s war on Iran, which both have been critical of, and how celebrity.land\u2019s Tapper interviewed pro-Iran war politicians, Reps. Mike Lawler (R-NY) and Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), on Wedneday\u2019s (May 6) episode of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/show\/the-lead-with-jake-tapper\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Lead<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly aired a clip from <em>The Lead<\/em>, in which Lawler accused Carlson of \u201cpromoting anti-Semitic hate speech.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Kelly asked for Carlson\u2019s thoughts on that, he replied, \u201cIt\u2019s just amazing to see Jake Tapper abetting something like this. I remember when he was a lobbyist for Hooters, thinking about becoming a journalist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kelly looked confused as Carlson continued, \u201cHe was literally a lobbyist for Hooters. As the celebrity.land anchor explained on <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/jake-tapper\/id1650390838?i=1000736249892&amp;l=ko\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the <em>Dedicated<\/em> podcast<\/a> last year, he worked as a spokesperson for the public relations firm Power Tate, which represented Hooters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a bipartisan firm,\u201d Tapper said, per <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/media\/news\/what-megyn-kelly-blown-away-when-tucker-carlson-reveals-jake-tappers-old-gig\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mediaite<\/a>. \u201cAnd we worked for whatever clients we got. And Hooters, in the Clinton years, was being threatened with a lawsuit from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for not hiring men as Hooters girls. And yeah, I worked on the Hooters case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tapper noted he was \u201c24, 25, and working for a PR firm to pay the rent while I figured out what I wanted to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was also quoted in a 1995 <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baltimoresun.com\/1995\/11\/15\/eeoc-fights-for-hunks-to-join-hooters-attractions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Baltimore Sun article<\/a> about the case, saying, \u201cHooters girls are the attraction of the restaurant.
