Variety revealed its \u201cYoung Hollywood\u201d issue cover star on Thursday: Sam Nivola<\/strong> (aka the White Lotus twink). Nivola\u2019s, if you didn\u2019t know, are Emily Mortimer <\/strong>and Alessandro Nivola<\/strong>\u2014though he very deliberately doesn\u2019t credit them with anything. \u201cOther than my genes, I don\u2019t think I can attribute much of my success to my parents,\u201d Nivola told Variety. \u201cI feel proud that I\u2019ve done it for myself, and sometimes in spite of them.\u201d However, that\u2019s not even the most ridiculous thing Nivola said during the interview.<\/p>\n According to Nivola, it\u2019s the fault of \u201cold movie stars\u201d (namely Tom Cruise<\/strong>) and Hollywood\u2019s reliance on them that young actors such as himself aren\u2019t getting meaningful opportunities. That\u2019s right. And not only did Nivola do an ageism, he also plastic surgery-shamed his\u2014frankly, more talented and charismatic\u2014elders.<\/p>\n \u201cThe old movie stars are getting plastic surgery, and they\u2019re looking younger and they\u2019re staying young,\u201d Nivola explained. \u201cYou have these really old people playing young roles. And it\u2019s not giving any space for the young\u2019uns to move in and make a name for themselves.\u201d This kid plays one weirdo with a proclivity for incest and suddenly he thinks he\u2019s owed the opportunity to make a name for himself\u2026<\/p>\n He added: \u201cWith all due respect to those people, one day they won\u2019t be here anymore, literally, and they will have to create new stars.\u201d<\/p>\n Oh, please let a legend like Jane Fonda <\/strong>(or Cruise himself, honestly) stuff this little twerp in a locker.<\/p>\n Like what you just read?
