Amy Grant<\/a> released\u00a0The Me That Remains<\/em>, her first album of original songs in 13 years, on Friday (May 8).<\/p>\n The record features 10 exceptionally written and sung tracks which reveal what Grant has been up to over the past decade, including life events she hadn’t yet shared with fans.<\/p>\n Grant recently spoke to me on\u00a0Taste of Country Nights<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> where I asked her about a particular song on the record called “The Other Side of Goodbye.” And boy, was I taken aback when she told me the true inspiration behind the tune.<\/p>\n Grant says the end of her mother’s life inspired her to write “The Other Side of Goodbye.”<\/p>\n “She was in hospice care at our house for the last three weeks of her life. But hey, we’re all gonna die, ya know?” the singer explains.<\/p>\n “I think my mom was so much a part of my life, and no kidding, the last thing she did was [takes a deep breath<\/em>].
