King Charles and Donald Trump’s relationship is the strongest it’s ever been, especially after the successful state visit, a royal expert says.<\/p>\n

The 77-year-old monarch<\/a> and Queen Camilla, 78, made a state visit to the U.S. between April 27 and April 30, first traveling to Washington, D.C., where they were honored by Trump<\/a>, 79, and First Lady, Melania Trump, 55, with a state dinner.<\/p>\n

Now, days after King and Queen have returned home, royal expert Grant Harrold has detailed how Charles and Trump’s relationship will evolve over the coming months after the state visit. He thinks there could be another visit in the near future. This comes after Charles “negotiated a minefield” during a meeting with Trump<\/a> that had positive results.<\/p>\n

Harrold, who worked for Charles between 2004 and 2011, told The Express US on behalf of OLBG<\/a>, “They have known each other for several years now, and the longer they get to know each other, the better they will understand each other.<\/p>\n

“It’s obvious that Donald Trump<\/a> adores and values the King, and this trip would have strengthened their relationship, so it’s likely that the relationship is even stronger on the back of this trip.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The royal expert continued, “Their relationship certainly isn’t in a bad way; it’s likely better than it’s ever been. The state visits are now complete, Trump has been over here and now vice versa; however, it is possible that there could be a private visit of Trump to the UK.”<\/p>\n

Harrold concluded, “It would be a big thing, but there is also the possibility that the King could invite Trump to Balmoral, to keep Trump on side.”<\/p>\n

Charles has earned widespread praise for his diplomatic finesse after successfully managing what could have been an awkward meeting with Trump. Following the state visit, the president lifted a tariff on a major U.K. import and praised the monarch as “the greatest king in my book.”<\/p>\n

Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, announcing the elimination of tariffs on Scottish whisky, claiming “people have wanted to do this for a long time” and the King and Queen “got me to do something that nobody else was able to do without hardly even asking!”<\/p>\n

A statement issued by Buckingham Palace noted, “The King has been informed of President Trump’s warm gesture and sends his sincere gratitude for a decision that will make an important difference to the British whisky industry and the livelihoods it supports.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The statement continued, “His Majesty will be raising a dram to the President’s thoughtfulness and generous hospitality as he departs the US after a most enjoyable State Visit for both Their Majesties in this special anniversary year.”<\/p>\n

The visit, described as the most crucial of the King’s reign to date, took place after Trump sharply criticized Prime Minister Keir Starmer over Britain’s limited involvement in the war in Iran.<\/p>\n

Trump bluntly declared, “When we asked them for help, they were not there. When we needed them, they were not there.”<\/p>\n

Former royal editor Duncan Larcombe told the Mirror the four-day visit represented an “absolute triumph” for the monarch. “He had the best part of 70 years practicing for this, but this was the moment that put him under pressure,” he said.<\/p>\n

He added, “He was walking into a minefield, but he’s used his experience and his wisdom to negotiate his way through that minefield. I think it’s been King Charles at his absolute best.<\/p>\n

“How difficult is it for King Charles to go to America when the President is clearly at war with his own PM? And yet, he nailed it. I think the Palace will consider it an absolute triumph.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The British monarchy is required to maintain political neutrality and no longer holds a political or executive function. However, Trump issued multiple statements regarding the King and the war in Iran.<\/p>\n

Following Charles’s address to Congress, in which he emphasized the importance of a robust NATO and assistance for Ukraine<\/a>, Trump told Oval Office delegates that the King “would have probably helped us with Iran.”<\/p>\n

Larcombe explained, “Donald Trump has been trying to drag the King into this huge row over the war in Iran. But that just shows the ignorance of Trump – that he thinks he can pull the royal family into making political statements.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
