On Friday, Charli XCX<\/a> kicked off her new musical era with \u201cRock Music.\u201d<\/a> Today, she pivots almost immediately with the release of the B-side, \u201cI Keep Thinking About You Every Single Day And Night.\u201d<\/p>\n If we were to believe \u201cRock Music,\u201d then the Brat<\/em><\/a> superstar was headed toward the realm of rage-baiting pop-punk. Musically speaking, \u201cI Keep Thinking\u2026,\u201d sees XCX quickly return to the realm of more understated, \u201990s-adjacent club music. Lyrically, though, she\u2019s very much swimming in the same rage-inducing deep end as she stokes listeners\u2019 moods with lines like, \u201cNow I\u2019m wondering if I maybe could be gay\/But come on, look at me, I\u2019m probably not.\u201d<\/p>\n Get Charli XCX Tickets Here<\/a><\/p>\n Similarly, the track features the line, \u201cI\u2019ve always wondered if you were actually gay\/ Or if that\u2019s som\u0435thing you just say for your career.\u201d Who precisely could XCX be talking about? Perhaps Taylor Swift<\/a>? The two previously had beef in 2024-2025 after exchanging rather personal \u201cdiss\u201d tracks \u2014 \u201cSympathy is a knife\u201d<\/a> (from Charli\u2019s Brat<\/em>) followed by \u201cActually Romantic\u201d<\/a> (off Swift\u2019s The Life of a Showgirl<\/em><\/a>). But we\u2019ll ultimately let you decide.<\/p>\n Related Video<\/p>\n Either way, is one of pop music\u2019s biggest names engaging in queer-colored ragebaiting a good look? On paper, no. But it helps to look at \u201cRock Music\u201d and \u201cI Keep Thinking\u2026\u201d collectively. The former track is clearly a middle finger of sorts, a declaration that (as put best by our own Paolo Ragusa) none of it\u2019s really all that deep. Factor in the faux controversy hinted at with this latest track, and that XCX told us to \u201crip it ourselves\u201d from her B-sides Instagram account<\/a>, and the message is even clearer: it\u2019s all mostly for the LOLZ. Or, as much as you think they\u2019re beefing, XCX is far too busy and unconcerned, and this is all a big old gag for her entertainment.
