A film and TV legend who found success in Hollywood<\/a> has died aged 76. Tony Amatullo, a location manager and producer on a number of major productions, died on Sunday, May 3rd, of acute myeloid leukaemia at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in Manhattan, his son confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. He worked in production at Warner Bros. between 2000 and 2005, working on series including ER, The West Wing and Third Watch.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He was also an associate producer on the 1980s TV series Fame and Miami Vice, as well as a location manager on two huge films released in 1985: Richard Donner\u2019s The Goonies and Steven Spielberg<\/a>\u2019s The Colour Purple.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

During his impressive career, he was also a line producer for 1995 film Above Suspicion, and was an executive producer on the John Herzfeld neo-noir 2 Days in the Valley.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Later in his career, he worked on reality series Beverly Hills Pawn between 2013 and 2014 and in his final project, he executive-produced, directed and co-wrote Surviving on LES in 2021.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

His family issued an emotional tribute to the Hollywood<\/a> legend, saying: “Tony often compared producing to walking a tightrope \u2014 balancing creativity, logistics and big personalities.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

They added: “It was a challenge he embraced wholeheartedly, bringing both a passion for storytelling and a steady hand to every project throughout his career.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“Tony found joy in the day-to-day moments of life. Gardening, making the perfect pizza at his home in Pasadena, taking long walks through downtown Manhattan, swimming daily, fishing and hunting for antiques and hidden treasures in the many flea markets he visited around the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all those who loved him.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
