Now sources have given a rare insight into how the princess broke the news to the royals before the official palace statement was released.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Sources told the Mail on Sunday<\/a> that Princess Anne\u2019s daughter, and Eugenie\u2019s cousin, was the one who \u201cpersuaded\u201d Eugenie to write to the King.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The princess reportedly did so through an Easter card \u201caccompanied by a carefully written letter sent to her uncle\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The source said: \u201cShe and Jack were quite surprised by the warmth of the Palace response.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe couple had feared a frostier reception and had been contemplating making a media announcement of their own without the Palace being involved, but the King made contact and asked his officials to make a formal announcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to reports, the official announcement about Eugenie\u2019s pregnancy was \u201cpurposefully\u201d delayed to ensure it didn\u2019t overshadow the King and Queen\u2019s history visit to the US and Bermuda.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Buckingham Palace\u2019s statement read: \u201cHer Royal Highness Princess Eugenie<\/a> and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAugust (aged five) and Ernest (aged two) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The baby, who will not be an HRH, will be born 15th in line to the throne, with their great uncle, the Duke of Edinburgh, moving down to 16th place.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
