Noah Kahan<\/a> returned to Saturday Night Live<\/a><\/em> with performances of two songs from his latest album, The Great Divide<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n Kahan, who debuted on SNL<\/a><\/em> in December 2023<\/a>, opened with the album\u2019s title track. Kahan wrote \u201cThe Great Divide\u201d with Gabe Simon, the producer of Kahan\u2019s Stick Season<\/em>.<\/p>\n The Great Divide<\/em>, Kahan\u2019s fourth studio album<\/a>, is \u201ca smart synthesis of\u00a0Bon Iver\u2019s ethereal falsetto indie-folk,\u00a0Zach Bryan\u2018s everyman storytelling, Mumford & Sons\u2019 acoustic stomp, and a Taylor Swiftian eye for lyrical detail, not to mention well-constructed bridges \u2014 all carefully weaved, well-wrought, and rendered with a tasteful light touch and a real pop sensibility,\u201d Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s Jon Dolan wrote in a review<\/a>. It charted well, reaching the top spot on the Billboard 200, as well as the Top Rock & Alternative and Top Americana\/Folk albums.<\/p>\n Get your daily dose of everything happening in Australian\/New Zealand music and globally.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Vermont singer-songwriter, who broke onto the scene with \u201cStick Season<\/a>,\u201d doesn\u2019t mind comparisons to what some have described pejoratively as \u201cstomp clap hey\u201d music.<\/p>\n \u201cI always thought the millennial 2010s thing was brilliant, and I never stopped loving it,\u201d Kahan, Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s June cover artist<\/a>, told us in an interview. \u201cI\u2019ve always felt very defensive of their sound. A lot of times, people [hear my music] and are like, \u2018This is just some Mumford & Sons shit.\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018I love Mumford & Sons! Thank you for the compliment!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Kahan\u2019s second performance from the 17-track, 77-minute album was of \u201cDoors,\u201d which he wrote with Sam Westhoff.<\/p>\n Kahan, 29, is beginning The Great Divide Tour<\/a> next month in Orlando, before heading to Australia and New Zealand this September and October<\/a>.<\/p>\n Kahan is also headlining Stateside<\/a>, Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s first music festival<\/a>, on July 4th in Kingston, New York.<\/p>\n\n
