Michael Allio<\/strong><\/a><\/span> is giving credit to his faith for helping him grieve the death<\/span><\/a> of his late wife, Laura Ritter-Allio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne thing that I\u2019ve talked to other grievers and widowers and people is visualization helps,\u201d Michael, 41, exclusively shared with Us Weekly<\/i> while celebrating his debut children\u2019s book, Where the Wild Heart Grows<\/i><\/span><\/a>. \u201cWhether it\u2019s God or whether it\u2019s the belief in a higher being. I know for a fact I\u2019m going to see Laura again, like, I know that. And so that brings me relief.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laura died in January 2019 at the age of 33 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Following her passing, Michael vowed to care for their then 2\u2013year-old son, James, and make sure he had plenty of positive memories.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all about what kind of stories am I going to collect to be able to tell her? Because if she is sitting there and I wasted my way on the couch mourning her loss, I know she\u2019d be so upset,\u201d Michael shared. \u201cOne thing cancer has taught me \u2026 is that we don\u2019t have time to pretend that we have more time. You don\u2019t have to be fully healed to begin living again. Now is the time to go out there and seek the kind of life that you want.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe countdown to Easter Sunday is on, and many in Hollywood are celebrating their faith out loud. Over time, Michael has been able to grieve, but also find hope about the future.<\/p>\n

His debut children\u2019s book is an emotionally rich story that explores courage, loss and the journey of growing through life\u2019s hardest moments. The stories also focus on embracing the different seasons of life on the path of becoming.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne thing I wanted to make sure I did was to not teach my son how to avoid pain, but learn how to walk through it and walk with it,\u201d Michael shared with Us<\/i>. \u201cI\u2019ve humanized myself as a parent to him, understanding that I struggle too, and I think that\u2019s created a very strong bond and kind of a safe place for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Raised in the Catholic church, Michael \u2014 who recently became the Godfather<\/span><\/a> to his niece \u2014 said he goes to church with his son.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy own personal faith has gone up and down, and it\u2019s a journey. But what I know for a fact, is that if I am showing up for [my son], and we\u2019re having the conversations about Laura,\u201d Michael shared. \u201cI\u2019m not pushing my grief on to him \u2026 He was two when she passed away, so I don\u2019t want him to feel guilty that he doesn\u2019t remember those things, but he does know that he\u2019s going to see her again, that she is looking over us, just like all the people we\u2019ve lost.\u201d<\/p>\n
