\u201cWeekend Update<\/a>\u201d host Colin Jost<\/a> took on Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s attempt to alleviate concerns about a recent hantavirus outbreak aboard a cruise ship that\u2019s left three passengers dead and several others sick.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Officials have been scrambling<\/a> to track down and monitor those who disembarked the ship and may have been infected prior to the detection of hantavirus. (Note: Transmission between humans is rare, and the World Health Organization\u2019s website<\/a> assesses the risk to the global population as low.)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201c[That] sounds scary, but let the president calm your fears,\u201d said Jost, teeing up a clip of Trump from Thursday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Trump, when asked<\/a> by a reporter if he\u2019d been briefed on the virus, said, \u201cYou\u2019re going to be told everything, and you already have\u201d about the recent outbreak.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIt\u2019s very much, we hope, under control,\u201d he said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Jost reacted to the clip, \u201cOh, my God, that\u2019s \u2014 that\u2019s such great news. But why does that sound familiar?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The host of the \u201cSNL<\/a>\u201d news segment then made way for a clip of Trump telling CNBC\u2019s Joe Kernen<\/a> in January 2020 that the U.S. had the coronavirus \u201ctotally under control.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIt\u2019s one person coming in from China. We have it under control.
