Warning: The following post contains discussions of suicide<\/em>.<\/p>\n Martin Short<\/a> has broken his silence on the recent death of his daughter, Katherine Short, who died by suicide<\/a> at age 42 in February.<\/p>\n The Only Murders in the Building<\/em><\/a> star appeared on CBS News Sunday Morning<\/em><\/a> on May 10, where he opened up about his daughter\u2019s tragic passing and how \u201cit\u2019s been a nightmare for the family.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBut the understanding [is] that mental health and cancer, like my wife\u2019s, are both diseases, and sometimes with diseases they are terminal,\u201d he shared. \u201cAnd my daughter fought for a long time with extreme mental health, borderline personality disorder, other things, and did the best she could until she couldn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n Martin and his late wife of 30 years, Nancy Dolman, shared three children via adoption, including Oliver (40) and Henry (36). Dolman passed away in 2010 from ovarian cancer; she was 58-years-old.<\/p>\n
