Summer break is about to fly by, especially for the Rooster<\/em><\/a> crew. Though Steve Carrell just wrapped up the season 1 finale of his HBO<\/a> dramedy, the team is reportedly hard at work on the next installment. According to series creator Bill Lawrence (Shrinking<\/em><\/a>, Ted Lasso<\/em><\/a>), class might return to session within a year.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re gonna start shooting it in mid-to-late August,\u201d Lawrence told<\/a> TV Insider <\/em>after HBO renewed the series for season 2. \u201cHBO, in a great way, really wants to make sure that we get it on within a year, if not sooner, so we\u2019re gonna make sure we do that.\u201d<\/p>\n Rooster <\/em>stars Steve Carrell as writer Greg Russo, who accepts a residency at Ludlow College in New England where his daughter, Katie (Charly Clive), is a professor. While the first season dealt with Katie\u2019s breakup with fellow teacher Archie (Phil Dunster<\/a>)\u2014after she not-so-accidentally burnt his house down\u2014the season 1 finale left the doors open for another kind of awkward workplace relationship.<\/p>\n Greg\u2019s ex-wife Elizabeth (Connie Britton) is taking on the role of Ludlow\u2019s new school president. It won\u2019t just mean new conflicts for Greg and Katie\u2014who have patched things up now that Katie\u2019s decided to leave Archie for good and Greg decided to stay. Elizabeth\u2019s new tenure is also bad news for former president Walt (John C. McGinley), who is now forced to give up the gig.<\/p>\n \u201c[Season 2] does start on returning from Christmas break, and so we\u2019re going to have Connie in as much as we possibly can, but it buys us that transition year of her coming by, looking at the office to furnish it, while Walt\u2019s having to process what it means to leave,\u201d Lawrence teased to TV Insider<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s too delicious for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
