Rostam<\/a> Batmanglij produced Clairo<\/a>\u2019s 2019 debut Immunity<\/em><\/a>, and together they crafted the masterpiece (and third best song of that year<\/a>) that is \u201cBags<\/a>.\u201d Seven years later, the pair has reunited for the latest single from Rostam\u2019s forthcoming album American Stories<\/em><\/a>. Titled after the late French chanteuse Fran\u00e7oise Hardy<\/a>, \u201cHardy\u201d is built around a sample of Georges Delerue\u2019s score from Truffaut\u2019s Day for Night<\/em>. Below, watch an accompanying video directed by Antony Muse<\/a>.<\/p>\n In press materials, Rostam described \u201cHardy\u201d as \u201ca song about looking forward and looking back. Ultimately, I hope it\u00a0leaves you with some feeling of hope for the future.\u201d He continued: \u201cI\u2019m so happy Claire could make a guest appearance and sing her own section of the song\u2014I\u00a0have always loved the way her voice communicates optimism.\u201d<\/p>\n American Stories<\/em> is out this Friday, May 15. The day prior, Rostam will share American Stories: A Concert Film<\/em>, a full live performance video also helmed by Muse, to YouTube. His North American tour<\/a> kicks off later this month, followed by a short run of European shows in September.
