Spencer Pratt<\/strong><\/a> is likening himself to former President Barack Obama<\/a><\/strong> amid his campaign to become the mayor of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have two awards from my community. President Obama actually didn\u2019t even have awards when he was a community organizer,\u201d Pratt, 42, told NBC Los Angeles<\/a>\u2019 Conan Nolan<\/strong> on Friday, May 8. \u201cHe was able to become a senator and then a president for eight years. So, I feel like him, and I have the same experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Hills alum previously made the comparison to Obama, 64, during a Thursday, May 7, interview with CBS News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had no experience running the whole entire country, which is way bigger than L.A.,\u201d Pratt claimed.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSpencer Pratt\u2018s run for mayor of Los Angeles has his former reality TV castmates talking \u2014 and they are definitely not all on the same page. The Hills alum announced his candidacy at the \u201cThey Let Us Burn\u201d public demonstration in January 2026, on the one-year anniversary of the Palisades Fire that killed 12 people [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

During his interview on Friday, Pratt also addressed those who bring up his past as a reality TV personality, describing himself as a \u201ccommunity advocate\u201d these days.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m no longer a reality star,\u201d he argued. \u201cIt\u2019s funny, I keep being called a reality star. I\u2019m the only candidate living in reality, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt\u2019s interviews come after a debate on Wednesday, May 6, during which City Councilwoman Nithya Raman<\/strong> called him a \u201cMAGA Republican.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt, who is a registered Republican, told CBS News on Thursday, \u201cAll my supporters in Los Angeles are Democrats. Everyone I know, my family, are all Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added in his interview with NBC Los Angeles on Friday, \u201cI represent all of Los Angeles. I do not represent a party. I don\u2019t have a campaign manager. I don\u2019t have campaign consultants. There\u2019s no political party backing me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt also predicted on Thursday that he will secure more than half the votes in next month\u2019s election.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m probably going to win with 51 percent on June 2, because I don\u2019t do a political message,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t do national politics. I don\u2019t do tribal politics. I don\u2019t talk about other states. I\u2019m localized. I just want to fix our streets, get the lights on. I want people to feel safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt announced his plans to run for mayor<\/a> of L.A. in January, citing a desire to rebuild the city\u2019s \u201csystem\u201d after wildfires the year prior. (Pratt and his wife, Heidi Montag<\/strong>, lost their home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood to the Palisades Fire, which killed 12 people and burned more than 6,800 homes and businesses.)<\/p>\n

\u201cThe system in Los Angeles isn\u2019t struggling; it\u2019s fundamentally broken,\u201d he said at the \u201cThey Let Us Burn\u201d public demonstration. \u201cIt is a machine designed to protect the people at the top and the friends they exchange favors with while the rest of us drown in toxic smoke and ash. Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles, and I\u2019m done waiting for someone to take real action.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt continued, \u201cThat\u2019s why I am running for mayor. And let me be clear, this just isn\u2019t a campaign, this is a mission, and we\u2019re gonna expose the system.\u201d<\/p>\n
