FKA Twigs<\/strong> has reportedly landed her next acting role, following her supporting appearance in Mother Mary<\/strong>. The actress and singer will play an iconic jazz musician in an upcoming feature biopic. The film was previously announced in 2022, with plans to shoot the following year.<\/p>\n FKA Twigs has been cast as Josephine Baker in a new untitled biopic from StudioCanal<\/a>. This will be her first leading role as an actress following her supporting appearances in Mother Mary, The Crow, and The Carpenter\u2019s Son.<\/p>\n Ma\u00efmouna Doucour\u00e9, known for her controversial coming-of-age French drama Mignonnes, aka Cuties, will write and helm the film. The director\u2019s other credits include Hawa and the short movie Maman(s).<\/p>\n Production will commence in the fall (via Entertainment Weekly<\/a>). StudioCanal will co-produce with Bien ou Bien Productions, which previously produced Cuties and Hawa. After arriving in Paris in 1925, Baker established herself as a dancer, singer, and actress, gaining recognition for her charisma, originality, and powerful stage presence.
