Local artist Elizabeth Clyde is exploring a new sound with the release of her latest single, \u201cCherries.\u201d The track leans into a louder alt-indie rock style and\u00a0showcases\u00a0a more blunt, self-aware approach to songwriting compared to her\u00a0previous\u00a0release, \u201cHow It Should Be.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Clyde said the song is about recognizing\u00a0a bad decision\u00a0in a relationship or \u201csituationship,\u201d but choosing to go through with it anyway. \u201cI know that this is a bad idea. I know that this is not\u00a0going to go\u00a0well. However,\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0making\u00a0the\u00a0choice.\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0going to go with it,\u201d she said. \u201cEventually, you end up exactly where you thought you were going to end up.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Like her\u00a0previous\u00a0release, \u201cCherries\u201d was self-produced by Clyde in her DIY home studio setup, with help from her dad on some of the guitar parts. She said recording and mixing the track herself allowed her to fully lean into the song\u2019s louder and more energetic style.\u00a0<\/p>\n Along with continuing to release\u00a0new music\u00a0throughout the year, Clyde is also preparing for more live performances, including an appearance at Sidewalk Days this summer. She said she is hoping to eventually build toward releasing an EP while continuing to grow her catalogue of songs.\u00a0<\/p>\n Elizabeth Clyde stopped by Mix 103 to chat with Calum McAnally about the new single, building a home studio, upcoming performances and the music currently inspiring her.
