Conan O\u2019Brien\u2019s<\/a> era as Oscars host is becoming a trilogy. The Emmy-winner and comedian will be back to host the 99th Academy Awards in 2027, film academy leaders said Tuesday.<\/p>\n O\u2019Brien hosted the last two Oscar ceremonies to positive reviews. Earlier this year, in his opening monologue<\/a>, he said he was \u201chonored to be the last human host of the Academy Awards \u2026 Next year it\u2019s going to be a Waymo in a tux.\u201d<\/p>\n He\u2019ll be surrounded by a familiar team, as well, with the return of Raj Kapoor<\/a> and Katy Mullan as the show\u2019s executive producers.<\/p>\n Film academy leaders Bill Kramer and Lynette Howell Taylor said in a joint statement, \u201cThey are an incredible team and have produced such captivating, entertaining and heartfelt shows over the last two years,\u201d adding that they\u2019re looking forward to \u201cConan superbly leading the celebration with his brilliance and humor.\u201d<\/p>\n After several years of ratings increases, including a post-pandemic high of 19.7 million viewers<\/a> who tuned in for O\u2019Brien\u2019s inaugural year as host, when \u201cAnora\u201d swept the awards, the show took a dip in viewership<\/a> this year, when \u201cOne Battle After Another\u201d was crowned best picture. Engagement for the Oscars rose by other metrics, though. Social media engagement during the broadcast went up by over 42% this year.<\/p>\n \u201cConan has created remarkable energy around \u2018The Oscars,\u2019\u201d Craig Erwich, the president of Disney\u2019s Television Group, said in a statement. \u201cHis singular comedic voice makes Hollywood\u2019s biggest night one of the most entertaining celebrations of the year.
