Stephen Colbert\u2019s late-night comrades are clearing the way for his goodbye.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On Tuesday, People<\/a> reported that \u201cThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon\u201d will skip a new episode on May 21 \u2014 the same night \u201cThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert\u201d airs its finale. Instead, Fallon\u2019s show will air a rerun in solidarity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kimmel made the same gesture back in 2015, when he chose not to air a new episode as Colbert\u2019s predecessor on \u201cThe Late Show,\u201d David Letterman, retired from the CBS program. Letterman is also scheduled to appear as a guest on Colbert\u2019s show this coming Thursday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Since CBS unexpectedly canceled Colbert\u2019s program<\/a> last summer, Kimmel, Fallon, plus fellow late-night hosts Seth Meyers and John Oliver have fiercely rallied behind him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The group \u2014 who teamed up for the \u201cStrike Force Five\u201d podcast during the 2023 Hollywood strikes \u2014 reunited on Colbert\u2019s show on Monday to tease a special \u201cemergency\u201d episode, set to be released on Wednesday, May 13.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The final episode of \u201cThe Late Show\u201d is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, at 11:35 p.m. ET. Moving forward, the late-night slot will be replaced by Byron Allen\u2019s comedy show<\/a>, \u201cComics Unleashed.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
