She’s traveled all over the world and has brought back fabrics from many different places,” said Molina.

Linderman will showcase her clothing, like coats and jackets, along with other vibrant textile works.

“She’s an amazing artist when it comes to textiles,” Molina said. “Her quilts are amazing too, but her garments are fantastic.”

The Vallejo Piecemakers originated in August 1987 with nine members.

Their first Opportunity Quilt, a sailboat-themed quilt, began that year.

“Not every quilt guild, but almost every quilt guild, has an opportunity quilt where members come together and make a quilt,” said Molina. “They sell tickets for an opportunity to win that quilt, and that’s where many guilds make money, so we can keep going.”

Molina added that those funds are used to make donations around the community. Last year, the Piecemakers donated “over 250 baby quilts” to local hospitals. One of those donations included donating a sewing machine to The Arc-Solano.

“All the different things that we do as outreach, we have to be able to afford that. An Opportunity Quilt is one of the ways that we raise funds to supply all those materials,” Molina said.

This year’s Opportunity Quilt, “Fanciful Flight,” was pieced together by 13 members of the Piecemakers — including Molina.

The quilt won second place at the 2025 Solano County Fair for Group Quilt.

A drawing for the “Fanciful Flight” Opportunity Quilt will be held this winter on Dec. 5

Tickets are available from any Vallejo Piecemakers member.

Molina began quilting in 1992 after a friend had shown her how to piece fabric together during a graveyard shift.

“That was the beginning of everything,” said Molina. “When I’m sitting at my sewing machine, I am in a very joyful and happy place.”

Molina says she hopes the community will come out to support the show this weekend, not only to support the Vallejo Piecemakers but to enjoy the artistry.

“(The Piecemakers) are really working hard to teach the next generation and the next. I don’t come from a line of quilters. I’m the first one in my family. My grandchildren, many of them, have made a quilt,” Molina said. “I think quilting is going to be around forever because it’s a wonderful expression of what we can do with fabric. The art community has really embraced fabric and used it to express themselves.
