\n\tBillboard<\/em>\u2018s May 2026 cover<\/a> star RAYE<\/a> has been cast in new crime thriller Lineage<\/em> by filmmaker Yann Demange (Top Boy<\/em>, \u201971<\/em>). The British singer-songwriter will star opposite French actors Dali Benssalah, Adam Bessa and Isabelle Huppert in the upcoming film<\/a>, Variety<\/em> reports.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\tThough RAYE has previously made a cameo as herself in the 2025 Netflix limited series Black Rabbit<\/em>, Lineage<\/em> will be the star\u2019s acting debut. Based on a story written by Demange and penned for the big screen by Edna Walsh, Lineage <\/em>takes place in modern-day London and follows Tariq, a father looking to rebuild his life after being released from prison. Production for the movie is set to begin in August in London.<\/p>\n

\n\tRAYE\u2019s first acting role comes on the heels of her second studio album This Music May Contain Hope<\/em>, released in March. The LP peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and spawned RAYE\u2019s highest charting Billboard Hot 100 song to date, \u201cWHERE IS MY HUSBAND!,\u201d which also peaked at No. 11. The independent singer graces the cover of the latest issue of Billboard<\/em><\/a> where she speaks about being able to create the music she\u2019s always wanted to make without the corporate red tape that comes with being signed to a label.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Wednesday (May 13), RAYE will conclude the North American Leg of her This Tour May Contain New Music trek before heading to London for two nights at The O2 Arena. On Memorial Day (May 25), she is up for best vocal performance for \u201cWHERE IS MY HUSBAND!\u201d at the American Music Awards.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
